AURORA 88s ROLLER DERBY
If you’ve been to an outdoor Bluegrass Sunday on the Woonerf, you’ve likely seen our fearless leader serving up food and drinks, streetside, on roller skates.. Here’s where those skills found their origin! The 88s league is made up of skaters, referees and officials who volunteer their time. They hold open recruitment twice a year and home games are held at the Aurora Skate Center.
Fermi community orchestra
The Fermi Community Orchestra (FCO) provides adult musicians of all levels, professional and amateur, the opportunity to explore, learn and play great works of music in a friendly, supportive setting. The FCO encourages growth in its members' musicianship as it brings the joy of music to the communities of Chicago's western suburbs through its free, family-friendly concerts three times a year at Batavia United Methodist Church.
Batavia lyceum association
An endeavor most educational and philosophical, a gathering most intellectual and satirical and hysterical and libational. Every second Monday from September through May, we transform our space into a mini lecture hall for the smartest room in Batavia. Topics range from history to politics to art to current events and culture and more.
CASA KANE county
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children. Changing a child’s story is what they do for children who have been abused and neglected by the hands that were supposed to protect them and are now in the foster care system. Volunteers are appointed by the Juvenile Court Judge to advocate for the child’s best interest and work alongside DCFS and other agencies to find children the safe, permanent home they deserve.
